With a shape drawn from the sound waves created by the hummingbirds' wings nesting outside Shapiro's studio, the Flutter Lamp is meticulously handcrafted from California Stoneware. It integrates 30 extruded patterns, each scored, slipped, and assembled with precision, aided by laser guides. Following the bisque firing, a support structure within the center of the piece is carefully removed, unveiling the final form for glaze.

Although every Flutter Lamp shares the same conceptual foundation, the process of crafting each lamp is a distinctive journey, yielding a one-of-a-kind piece with its own individual number. These lamps come in a range of finishes and are open for custom commissions.
